An Analysis of Social Themes in Ahmadreza Ahmadi's Poetry: The Influence of the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense on Poetic Content

This article explores the social themes in the poetry of Ahmadreza Ahmadi and the impact of the Islamic Revolution and the Iran-Iraq War on the content of his works. As a prominent contemporary poet, Ahmadi has effectively mirrored the social and cultural experiences of Iranian society during these turbulent historical periods through his unique, yet accessible language. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, this study examines Ahmadi’s poetry through concepts such as resilience, perseverance, sacrifice, and social aspirations. Findings indicate that Ahmadi employs symbols and metaphors, such as mountains, light, blood, and flowers, to convey the social and cultural struggles following the revolution and war, artistically reflecting the Iranian society’s challenges. His simple yet profound language style enables him to simultaneously depict societal pains and sufferings while expressing hopes and dreams for a better future. The linguistic and stylistic analysis of his poetry demonstrates the deep influence of these events on his form and content, positioning Ahmadi as a key figure in Iranian social poetry. Based on these findings, the article offers suggestions for future research on analyzing social themes in modern Persian poetry, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary studies on the social and cultural impacts on Persian literature.
