Abstract

The Other Day of Shoura is the latest novel by Fariba Vafi, a contemporary writer. The present article aims to examine the character of Shoura in The Other Day of Shoura based on Karen Horney’s perspective. The author employs a descriptive-analytical method in this study. In the descriptive section, data were collected through documentary research (note-taking in a descriptive manner) and survey methods (utilizing Karen Horney’s theory). To achieve the research objective, The Other Day of Shoura by Fariba Vafi was analyzed, and the content was subsequently examined using content analysis. The results indicated that the central focus of this novel is the use of female characters and feminine elements. The precise and artistic characterization of the novel’s protagonist reflects the author's concerns and objectives. Shoura’s rigidity and the obligatory kindness she displays in her interactions with her husband’s family indicate her tendency toward compliance-seeking behavior.
