Abstract

Contemporary Afghan poetry, as one of the most important branches of Persian literature, has its own characteristics, one of which is the use of literary allusions. Allusion means an indirect reference to historical, religious, and literary figures, events, or concepts, the understanding of which requires familiarity with cultural and historical contexts. This study examines literary allusions in contemporary Afghan poetry and analyzes prominent examples of the works of prominent Afghan poets. By using indirect references to famous literary figures and classical texts, contemporary Afghan poets have attempted to enrich their poems conceptually and semantically. This study examines and analyzes examples of poems with literary allusions to show how contemporary Afghan poets use these rhetorical techniques to express deep and multi-layered concepts. The results show that literary allusions play an important role in increasing the semantic richness and depth of contemporary Afghan poetry.
