This study presents a comparative analysis of social thought in the poetry of Manouchehr Atashi and Mehdi Akhavan Sales, aiming to explore the similarities and differences in their approach to themes such as justice, inequality, and social critique. Using qualitative content analysis, selected poems by both poets are examined within the framework of social critique and critical theory to interpret their social themes. The findings indicate that Atashi utilizes nature and regional language to express his social views, using natural symbols and local imagery to reflect on societal inequalities and injustices. In contrast, Akhavan Sales relies on historical and mythological symbols to articulate his social critiques and employs a more complex poetic language, reflecting his historical awareness and resistance-driven perspective. These differences highlight the influence of distinct cultural and social contexts on their poetic language and expression, even though both poets strive for social awareness and critique. The study emphasizes the role of contemporary Persian literature in reflecting and analyzing social issues and provides a foundation for future studies on social thought in modern Persian poetry.
