Journal Article 1405 01 18 <p>This study examines the representation of “body-centered dimensions” and “climatic suffering” in the stories of Mahmoud Dowlatabadi from the perspective of Gérard Genette’s theory of focalization. Despite the significance of the body and climate in contemporary Iranian literature, as well as the theoretical attention devoted to the concept of focalization, no independent study has analyzed these two concepts in Dowlatabadi’s works by employing Genette’s systematic framework of focalization and complementing it with Michael Toolan’s theory of orientation. In Dowlatabadi’s short stories, the “body” is prominently represented as the locus of lived experience, while “climate” functions as a determining factor in shaping the characters’ destinies. Analyzing how these dimensions are focalized within the narrative can contribute substantially to a deeper understanding of Dowlatabadi’s narrative techniques and his artistic representation of Iranian lived experience. This study employs a descriptive-analytical method. It seeks to demonstrate how Dowlatabadi, through the deliberate use of focalization mechanisms, moves the “body” and “climate” beyond their merely biological or geographical meanings and transforms them into key elements in the construction of the fictional world and the characters’ lived experiences. The findings also help explain how narrative choices concerning focalization influence readers’ perceptions of bodily and climatic suffering and their ideological dimensions, thereby revealing deeper layers of meaning in Dowlatabadi’s works.</p> <p>این پژوهش به بررسی چگونگی بازنمایی «وجوه بدن‌محور» و «رنج اقلیمی» در داستان‌های محمود دولت‌آبادی از منظر نظریه‌ی کانونی‌سازی ژرار ژنت می‌پردازد. علیرغم اهمیت بدن و اقلیم در ادبیات معاصر ایران، و همچنین پرداخت نظری به مفهوم کانونی‌سازی، پژوهش مستقلی که این دو مفهوم را در آثار دولت‌آبادی با اتکا به چارچوب دقیق کانونی‌سازی ژنت و تکمیل آن با نظریه‌ی جهت‌گیری مایکل تولان مورد تحلیل قرار دهد، وجود ندارد. در داستان‌های کوتاه دولت آبادی، «بدن» به عنوان بستری برای تجربه زیسته و «اقلیم» به عنوان عاملی تأثیرگذار بر سرنوشت شخصیت‌ها، حضوری پررنگ دارند. تحلیل چگونگی «کانونی شدن» این وجوه در روایت، به درک عمیق‌تر شیوه‌های روایت‌گری دولت‌آبادی و بازنمایی هنرمندانه‌ی او از تجربه‌ی زیسته‌ی ایرانی کمک شایانی خواهد کرد. این پژوهش از روش توصیفی-تحلیلی بهره می‌برد. این پژوهش نشان دهد که دولت‌آبادی چگونه با استفاده‌ی هوشمندانه از سازوکارهای کانونی‌سازی، «بدن» و «اقلیم» را از مفاهیمی صرفاً زیست‌شناختی یا جغرافیایی فراتر برده و به عنصری کلیدی در شکل‌دهی به جهان داستانی و تجربه‌ی زیسته‌ی شخصیت‌هایش بدل می‌سازد. همچنین، نتایج به تبیین این امر کمک خواهد کرد که چگونه انتخاب‌های روایی در کانونی‌سازی، بر درک خواننده از رنج‌های جسمانی و اقلیمی و ابعاد ایدئولوژیک آن‌ها تأثیر می‌گذارد و به این ترتیب، لایه‌های عمیق‌تری از معنا در آثار او آشکار خواهد شد.</p> https://jtpll.com/index.php/jtpll/article/download/431/297
