Journal Article 1403/11/01 <p>Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, the greatest epic of Persian literature, is not merely a collection of battles and heroic tales but a profound philosophical, ethical, and cultural meditation on the survival of Iranian identity. Within this monumental text, defense is conceptualized not only as military confrontation but as a multidimensional art encompassing wisdom, justice, cultural creativity, and spirituality. The analysis of the preface and the early books of the Shahnameh demonstrates how defense emerges in various forms—natural, legitimate, technological, cultural, and social—as the very foundation of civilization. Figures such as Keyumars, Hushang, Tahmuras, Jamshid, Fereydun, Sam, Zal, Rostam, Siyavash, and Kay Khosrow each embody distinct aspects of the art of defense, ranging from natural and technological protection to ethical, cultural, and sacred defense. Through powerful language and symbolic narratives, Ferdowsi transforms defense into an eternal identity marker, while his preservation of the Persian language itself stands as the highest form of cultural defense. This study argues that defense in the Shahnameh is not limited to martial valor but constitutes a civilizational art, forming the central theme of Ferdowsi’s epic vision.</p> <p>شاهنامه فردوسی به‌عنوان بزرگ‌ترین اثر حماسی زبان فارسی، تنها روایتگر جنگ‌ها و پهلوانی‌ها نیست، بلکه اثری فلسفی، اخلاقی و فرهنگی در باب بقای هویت ایرانی است. در این منظومه سترگ، دفاع نه صرفاً به‌معنای مقابله نظامی، بلکه به‌عنوان هنری چندبعدی شامل خردورزی، عدالت‌خواهی، فرهنگ‌آفرینی و معنویت مطرح می‌شود. بررسی دیباچه و دفترهای نخستین شاهنامه نشان می‌دهد که دفاع در شکل‌های گوناگون طبیعی، مشروع، فناورانه، فرهنگی و اجتماعی به‌عنوان بنیان تمدن معرفی شده است. شخصیت‌هایی چون کیومرث، هوشنگ، طهمورث، جمشید، فریدون، سام، زال، رستم، سیاوش و کیخسرو، هر یک گونه‌ای از هنر دفاع را نمایندگی می‌کنند؛ از دفاع طبیعی و فناورانه تا دفاع اخلاقی، فرهنگی و قدسی. فردوسی از رهگذر زبان پرقدرت و روایت‌های نمادین، دفاع را به عنصری هویتی و جاودانه بدل ساخته و با پاسداری از زبان فارسی، بزرگ‌ترین شکل دفاع فرهنگی را رقم زده است. این پژوهش با واکاوی مبانی نظری و متون شاهنامه، دفاع را نه به‌عنوان امری صرفاً نظامی، بلکه به‌منزله هنری تمدنی معرفی می‌کند که درون‌مایه اصلی روایت‌های فردوسی را تشکیل می‌دهد.</p> https://jtpll.com/index.php/jtpll/article/download/179/124
